Lab cage

Year: September, 2004
Notes: This picture was almost exclusively inspired by, and created to, the track 'Rhubarb' by Aphex Twin. It really needs to be viewed with that track playing to get the same feeling I had while creating it. This is Warlock in his Laboratory cage, soon after he was recaptured from the wild. He was then drugged to make him easy to handle, which is why he looks so thoroughly resigned to being in the cage, when normally, he'd be protesting very loudly. I suppose that in a small, small way, it's a statement on the usage of animals in labs though I don't like to get too preachy. In actual fact, Warlock never goes into a cage like this one in the book. He lives in a plastic laboratory tank. But for some reason I felt the need to draw him in a dark metal box. I'll admit to 'going off on one' for this piece and I can't remember much about the process of doing it.

The lights are dodgy, admittedly, but this is the first time I've tried to do a picture like this, and it's half the reason I put it off for two weeks. This is pretty old and I don't much like it anymore, or think it's a good pic of Warlock but I do like the atmosphere.
